About Goldsithney & Surrounding Area

Sowena cottage is a short 5 minute walk from the village of Goldsithney, which boasts two pubs; both of which serve food, a well stocked village store and a post office. Goldsithney and the surrounding countryside has a myriad of footpaths, which link the villages in the area; a walkers delight. Goldsithney is set back from the coast, thus escaping the main tourist rush, yet lying close to all the main attractions. The cottage is not situated on a working farm.
There are countless beaches, coastal footpaths, country walks, gardens and stately homes nearby, making this is a superb base from which to explore the best of what South West Cornwall has to offer.
Dominating the area and just 2 miles away from Sowena cottage is the off shore island of St Michael’s Mount and the beautiful market town of Marazion. Reaching the Mount via the causeway when the tide is out is a must however, during high tide in the summer season, water taxis ferry visitors to and fro. There are fabulous beaches in the area, the dramatic coastal path (winding its way over the cliff tops) and plenty of places to surf, sail, kayak, fish, swim, snorkel, scuba dive, walk, eat, drink or just relax – whatever takes your fancy.
Visit Penzance, with its slightly bohemian air and home to the much-celebrated Art Deco lido - The Jubilee Pool located on Penzance's Promenade. Perhaps book to see a show at the unique open air cliff-top theatre at Minack, near Porthcuno? Maybe a stroll through the beautiful villages of Marazion and Mousehole or the artists favourite spot, St. Ives . The choice is yours and Sowena is a superb base for exploring beautiful Cornwall.

Covid-19 Info

The health, safety and security of my guests is my highest priority. Please take a moment to take note of how I am planning to provide a safe environment to welcome guests.

Please note: all Covid-19 policies are based on current UK government guidelines and are being constantly reviewed based on the latest advice. With that in mind, some of the information you receive at the time of booking may be out of date by the time you arrive at the holiday cottages. Please check back on  Covid-19 update page for the latest information. Should there be any drastic changes which mat affect your booking, I will contact you as soon as possible.

Some of the things planned at Sowena cottage to help minimise risks:

The cottage will be left for 72 hours between guests; this is the recommended time to allow any virus to die off. The availabilty calendar will show unavailabiltiy because of this. I will be taking bookings for a minimum of 3 nights during off peak season until futher notice, During High season a minimum of 7 nights booking is required.

I will wear gloves, a mask and apron whilst cleaning the cottage. Extra time and care will be taken to sanitise door handles, light switches, remote controls and any regularly touched items and areas. The cottage will be aired thoroughly.

Hand Sanitiser will be available on entrance to the cottage and I request that you and all your group use this upon entering the cottage. I will also provide surface sanitiser for you to use during your stay.

Unfortunately I will be removing items such as children’s toys, outdoor toys and board games from the cottage for the foreseeable, but you are more than welcome to bring your own. I ask that you please make sure these are taken home with you. Tourist information leaflets will be removed too, but you will be able to access tourist information from your mobile divices through WiFi availbale in the cottage.

I ask that all guests follow the government guidelines of social distancing and washing hands regularly. This is the responsibility of the guest. The key to the cottage will be accessed via a key safe; the key safe code will be forwarded to guests prior to arrival.

It is important that all guests depart no later than 10am and do not arrive before 4pm, so there is no crossover between myself & guests, and that I have as much time as possible to air and sanitise the property.

I also ask that when you vacate the cottage, please make sure the cottage is tidy, that you have removed all rubbish from all bins and elsewhere before you leave, and you have taken all your belongings as you will not be able to reenter after departing at 10am.

If you would like to assist me in protecting myself, I'd be particularly grateful if you could strip your beds, and put the linen and towels ( even those unused)  in a black bin bag; these can be found in the under sink cupboard. This will enormously reduce the ‘handling’ of used bed linen for me, and so reduce any possible risk . Thank you.

I would like to thank you for your co-operation in these difficult times.
