A delightful, detached stone barn conversion, situated near to the owner’s charming farmhouse on the edge of the village of Goldsithney, near Marazion. Offering comfortable self catering accommodation in West Cornwall; Sowena Cottage has been well decorated and furnished, and its peaceful setting promises a relaxing stay. Sowena cottage sleeps 4 people comfortably. An extra futon can be made available - please enquire.

About Goldsithney & Surrounding Area
Sowena cottage is a short 5 minute walk from the village of Goldsithney, which boasts two pubs; both of which serve food, a well stocked village store and a post office. Goldsithney and the surrounding countryside has a myriad of footpaths, which link the villages in the area; a walkers delight. Goldsithney is set back from the coast, thus escaping the main tourist rush, yet lying close to all the main attractions.The cottage is not situated on a working farm.
There are countless beaches, coastal footpaths, country walks, gardens and stately homes nearby, making this is a superb base from which to explore the best of what South West Cornwall has to offer.
Dominating the area and just 2 miles away from Sowena cottage is the off shore island of St Michael’s Mount and the beautiful market town of Marazion. Reaching the Mount via the causeway when the tide is out is a must however,during high tide in the summer season, water taxis ferry visitors to and fro. There are fabulous beaches in the area, the dramatic coastal path (winding its way over the cliff tops) and plenty of places to surf, sail, kayak, fish, swim, snorkel, scuba dive, walk, eat, drink or just relax – whatever takes your fancy.
Visit Penzance, with its slightly bohemian air and home to the much-celebrated Art Deco lido - The Jubilee Pool located on Penzance's Promenade. Perhaps book to see a show at the unique open air cliff-top theatre at Minack, near Porthcuno? Maybe a stroll through the beautiful villages of Marazion and Mousehole or the artists favourite spot, St. Ives . The choice is yours and Sowena is a superb base for exploring beautiful Cornwall.

We operate a Saturday to Saturday change over during peak season.
A booking fee of £15 is payable for all bookings.
A security deposit of £50 is required. This is refundable at the end of the rental period minus costs for any damage,replacement or repair if required.

Short term Rental Agreement
SHORT TERM RENTAL AGREEMENT
This Short Term Rental Agreement (the Agreement) is made by and between Gillian Bent, T/A Gears Farmhouse Holidays (Homeowner) and the “Guest" as of the date of rental booking. For good and valuable consideration, the sufficiency of which is acknowledged, the parties hereby agree as follows:
1. Property. The property is located at:
Sowena cottage, adj. Gears Farmhouse, Gears Lane, Goldsithney, Penzance, TR209LB
2. Rental Party: The rental party shall consist of the Guest and the up to 4 persons:
3. Maximum Occupancy: The maximum number of guests is limited to 5 persons
4. Term of rental. The rental begins at 3pm on the “Check-in Date" and ends at 10am on the “Checkout Date".
5. Minimum Stay: This property requires a 3 night minimum stay during 'off peak' season and a 7 night minimum stay during peak periods.
6. Rental Rules: The Guest agrees to abide by the Rental Rules attached at all times while at the property and shall cause all members of the rental party and anyone else the Guest permits on the property to abide by the following rules at all times while at the property.
7. Access: Guest shall allow Homeowner access to the property for purposes of repair and inspection. The Homeowner shall exercise this right of access in a reasonable manner.
8. Tariff Rate and Fees:

A non- refundable £8 booking fee is payable upon booking.
A DEPOSIT of 25% of the total cost is payable upon booking
The FULL BALANCE will be due 6 weeks prior to the Check-in date.
For bookings made within 6 weeks of the Check-in date, FULL TARIFF & FEES will be due immediately.
A security deposit of £50 is required with all bookings and shall be refunded within 5 days of the Checkout Date provided no deductions are made due to:
i. damage to the property or furnishings;
ii. dirt or other mess requiring excessive cleaning; or
iii. any other cost incurred by the Homeowner due to the Guests stay.
If the premises appear dirty or damaged upon Check-in, the Guest shall inform the Homeowner immediately.
9. Cancellation Policy:
If the Guest wishes to cancel their booking, they must notify Gears Farmhouse Holidays as soon as possible via telephone, text or email; confirmation of cancellation in writing is advisable.
Cancellation fees are dependent upon date of the cancellation notification
Cancellation fees are taken as a percentage of the total tariff ;
50 days or more prior to the Check-in date – Full Deposit refund
42 -50 days prior to the Check-in date -Deposit only
35-42 days prior to the Check-in date - 40%
35-14 days prior to the Check-in date - 60%
0-14 days prior to the Check-in date - 100%
10. Insurance: Gears Farmhouse Holidays strongly recommend that Guests take out holiday cancellation insurance in relation to their booking.
11. Payment: Acceptable payment methods are personal cheques or via BACS. Please contact Gillian Bent( Homeowner) for details.
Upon booking it will be assumed that this Rental Agreement has been read and understood. The Guest agrees that all rental monies are non or part-refundable per cancellation policy above and that the recommendation to purchase travel insurance has been noted.
